Hixson is an unincorporated improve and a neighborhood in the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States.

It is a north-eastern improve of Chattanooga; and is part of the Chattanooga, TN-GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

However, the region is typically defined as: North of the Rivermont region (a Chattanooga neighborhood); east of the City of Red Bank and U.S.

Highway 27; south of the unincorporated region of Middle Valley and Thrasher Pike; and borders the river on the east. Within the Hixson community, there are also lesser communities.

Hixson is represented on the City of Chattanooga council with two precinct seats District 2 presently held by Jerry Mitchell and District 3 presently held by Ken Smith. Hixson is represented on the Hamilton County Commission in two districts as well: District 1, presently held by Randy Fairbanks; and District 3, held by Greg Martin. The school fitness is run by the Hamilton County government, as the county and town/city school systems were consolidated in 1997, after a 1995 voting popular vote. Hixson has one enhance high school the Hixson High School. Hixson also has one dominant middle school the Hixson Middle School although Loftis Middle School serves a small portion of the improve on the north side of Big Ridge. Currently there are five elementary schools in the enhance system that serve the area: Big Ridge Elementary, Mc - Connell Elementary, Ganns Middle Valley Elementary, Du - Pont Elementary, and Hixson Elementary. However, this is likely to change in the near future as the Hamilton County Board of Education has chose two of these schools for reassignment.
